Salaries are the basic motivator of a job. That’s justified to a certain extent as it will avail them of all the things that help make their lives comfortable and raise their standard of living.

When a fresh graduate is seeking an opportunity, he compares various offers based on the pay scale and other benefits.

The reason behind that could be to start their career with a respectable salary hence it will be easy for them to reach the higher levels quicker.

But the same reason does not play many roles after a year or two when he realizes that other bigger factors also decide the happiness on the job.

2. Relationship with the superiors

A person works 40 hours in the workplace every week. This makes it important for him to have a good and friendly relationship with the superiors. A good boss is difficult to find. He takes care of the subordinates. He genuinely allows them to grow and learn and gives them a healthy environment to flourish. A good boss will not only empower the employees but also increases their engagement with the organization. He is the one who plays a major role in their career growth.

If they face any issues at work, a smiling face will encourage them to brainstorm ideas and find a solution. Several employees leave their jobs just because they have a rapport issue with the superior. A toxic manager is a liability to the company.

3. Promising and secure job

In this era of layoffs, job security is a sought-after thing by all corporates. Like companies investing in recruitment, a job seeker also faces a lot of challenges after leaving a company. He is drained financially as well as emotionally. The fear of unemployment drives many employees to work at the current role and search for another opportunity. Companies want the employees to work with them for a longer period so that the amount of money spent on their training should be recovered by reaping the benefits of their experiences.

Many organizations take various steps for employee retention like retention bonuses, employee health benefits appreciation awards for long tenures, i.e. more than 5 years, etc.

While employees don’t want to get laid off, it’s also a fact that they usually change a job many times during their career to gain more security or other economical factors.

4. Loving the job role

It’s a well-known fact that one should love the work he does. If you do so, work will be as fun, and you will be paid for that. The job role is the highest motivator in engaging the employee, and it acts as a productivity booster. If an employee enjoys the challenges in his daily tasks, faces them with excitement, finds solutions easily by himself, and reaches his targets every month, he is most likely to be satisfied with his job.

The least chances are there that he will leave it. Liking the job helps an employee in gaining self-esteem and deep employee job satisfaction. It makes him more positive towards the work, learning new things quickly, making a lesser number of mistakes, maintaining a proper work-life balance, and making better decisions at work.

It simply means that if one gets a job and does not like it, it starts with negativity, which makes the job difficult and increases the chances of a bad result.

5. Treating the employees with respect and dignity

Every individual seeks respect. It’s the basic need after other physical needs. Respecting the employees is as important as treating them with dignity. Respect is the attention given to someone while interacting, whereas dignity is a sense of value that every individual seeks.

Respect can be shown to others in various ways like positively listening to their opinions, giving value to their ideas, asking for solutions, encouraging them to participate, and showing positive body language while dealing with them.
