EWS Admission 2022-23: Online Application, Eligibility, Age Limit

As per the government initiative, the economically weaker section of the society will be provided with a 10% reservation in education as well as government jobs. The EWS bill was passed by the honourable President of India Ram Nath Kovind on 12th January 2019. 

Now, the underprivileged section can apply for admission in more than 1671 schools in Delhi and around 13 districts that come under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The EWS admissions are now open and the deadline to fill the application form for nursery admission is 31st March 2022. 

So, if you are planning on reserving a seat for your child, here are a few things that you must know:  

Steps To Submit Online Application for EWS Admission 

Step 1:  Open the official website of the Education Department, Delhi: http://edudel.nic.in/

Step 2:  Now go to “EWS/DG Admissions and EWS/Free ship Admissions” > “Registration for New User (Nursery/Pre-School to Class-1)”. 

Step 3: A new tab will pop up to the New Registration form. Here, you need to fill up all the mandatory details marked as “*”. 

Step 4: Submit the form. This will be followed by a pop-up dialogue box where you need to click on ‘OK’. 

Step 5:  Now your credentials will appear. Please note the login ID and password carefully as it is case-sensitive. 

Step 6: Now log in using the credentials and fill-up the form including personal and academic details.

Step 7: Check all the details carefully before submitting the form. 

Step 8: Be sure that you take a printout of the application form you have submitted that can come in handy for future use.

After carrying out all these steps you will be able to submit your online application for EWS admission successfully. 

Documents Required

Here is a list of all the documents required for EWS admission 2022-2023:  

  • Passport size photograph of the child
  • Passport size photograph of mother/father/guardian
  • Family photograph (mother, father, and child) 
  • ID Proof
  • Below Poverty Line (BPL) card
  • Caste certificate
  • Income certificate
  • Affidavit/Self Declaration
  • Land/property documents
  • Residential proof/Domicile Certificate   

Eligibility Criteria

Before proceeding with the EWS admission, you need to ensure that:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Delhi.
  • The family income should exceed ₹ 1 Lakh per annum. 
  • The applicant must belong to the economically weaker section or the disadvantaged category.  

Age Limit

For admission under this initiative of the Doctorate of Education, Government of Delhi, the applicant has to be 

  • Between 3 to 4 years of age for Kindergarten and Nursery. 
  • Between 4 to 5 years of age for Pre-primary. 
  • Less than 6 years of age for 1st Standard. 

Note: If your child is exceeding the age limit slightly, there is also age relaxation offered of up to 30 days. This can be granted by the head of the school.
